Intro to Mantra

Are you interesting in mantra, but not sure where to start?  Do you love chanting OM and want to know more about it?  This workshop will introduce Sanskrit mantra through example, brief explanation of tradition and philosophy, and practice!

In particular, this class will focus on six Bija Mantras - OM and the five elemental Bija mantras typically associated with the modern chakra system.  Bija mantras are primordial sounds that resonate deeply within the human psyche.  They are easy to learn and use (even if you don't have a "singing" voice) and can be used out loud or silently for meditation, relaxation, and healing practices.

Philosophy topics will include the five elements of Ayurveda/Yoga traditions, the modern and traditional yoga chakra systems, and a brief insight into the Meaning of OM.  We will chant the six Bija Mantras, as well as introduce Sanskrit and chant the vowels of the Sanskrit alphabet.

Cost:  $20 (early registration by 2/14), $25 after.  Included in monthly unlimited.

*This class can be used for YACEP (continuing education) hours for yoga teachers.
